Poor immune levels caused by repeated Covid have made a recovery from viral fevers, infections, and novel variations a lengthy procedure for many. In many cases, flu is followed by bacterial infection of the throat and nose, resulting in a recurrence of symptoms.

According to experts, recurrent infections are largely caused by people failing to follow respiratory etiquette and take necessary measures after a first infection. The drop in viral infections during the first two years of the pandemic was attributable to the use of masks and social isolation.

Dr. Rahul Agarwal, an internal medicine specialist, stated that because people are not following these guidelines, virus illnesses, and flu are spreading rapidly. However, the seasonal flu has a different presentation because individuals are more symptomatic this year. Formerly, the viral flu primarily affected the nose and throat, but it now spreads deeper, hurting the sinuses. As a result, symptoms can last for a long time.

Dr. Mahaboob Khan, superintendent of Chest Hospital in Hyderabad, stated that viral flu, Covid-19, and H3N2 were occurring continuously in many patients. By the time the last family member becomes infected, the first healed person has picked up another infection, further spreading the infection.

Covid fever and viral fevers caused by influenza viruses cause immunodeficiency, lowering overall immunity. This leads to slower recovery until 2-3 years. Dr. AV Ratnam, chief of public health research at the Indian Medical Association of Telangana, added that the drop in overall immunity is expected to take some time to return to normal levels.
